Projects you will build

Employee Central foundation build

Configure the corporate data model and foundation objects for a two-country organisation, then hire, transfer and terminate an employee through the full event flow.

Rules, workflow and permissions

Build an MDF object with business rules and validation, route a change through a multi-stage workflow, and configure permission roles so three personas see exactly the right data.

Compensation cycle

Set up a compensation plan template with budgets, guidelines and eligibility, run a worksheet through manager planning and approval, and publish the results.

Tools you will use

Admin Center
The main configuration console for Employee Central and the wider suite. You work here throughout the course.
Provisioning
The backend settings that enable modules and features, and the boundary between partner and customer configuration.
Corporate and succession data models
The XML files that define fields, labels and behaviour, still central to Employee Central configuration.
Business rules and workflow editor
No-code automation: validations, defaults, triggers and approval routing.
Manage Permission Roles and Groups
Role-based permission design, the control that keeps sensitive HR data restricted.
Integration Center
Building outbound integrations and scheduled files without a middleware developer.

What learners say

The data model and business rules modules are where this course is strongest. Those two topics are the whole job in Employee Central.

Pooja M., SuccessFactors EC Consultant

I administered SuccessFactors without ever understanding provisioning or permissions properly. Now I do, and I lead the configuration.

Tarun L., HRIS Analyst

Position management was explained with real trade-offs rather than as a feature list. That helped me advise a client properly.

Claire N., HR Transformation Consultant

Frequently asked questions

Is SuccessFactors replacing SAP HCM?

For most customers, yes. SAP positions SuccessFactors as its strategic HR suite and on-premise HCM has a defined maintenance horizon, which is driving a steady stream of migration projects.

Do I need SAP HCM experience first?

No. SuccessFactors is a separate cloud product with its own configuration model. HCM experience helps with HR process understanding but is not a prerequisite.

Is there coding involved?

No programming. You do work with XML data models and no-code business rules, which is closer to careful configuration than development.

Which modules does the course cover?

Employee Central in depth, since that is the core certification and the foundation of every implementation, plus working coverage of recruiting, onboarding, performance and goals, compensation and integration.

Which certification does this prepare me for?

The SAP Certified Associate exam for SuccessFactors Employee Central Core. SuccessFactors releases quarterly and exams are re-versioned, so confirm the current code before booking.

Do I need an instance to practise?

You get guided access to a practice environment for the configuration exercises and all three projects.
