Who hires ServiceNow people

  • ServiceNow partner consultancies, from the large system integrators to specialist boutiques. Most implementation and developer roles sit here. The vendor lists its certified partners in its partner directory.
  • Enterprises that run their own instance: banks and insurers, telecoms, manufacturers, retailers and public bodies. These roles are usually administrator, developer and platform owner positions inside an IT team.
  • ServiceNow itself and its managed-service providers, for support, professional services and platform engineering.

What each level is expected to know

Fresher, 0 to 1 year

CSA-level knowledge: the data model, forms and lists, users and groups, basic ACLs, update sets, and how an incident moves through ITSM. Employers expect a personal developer instance you have actually built on.

2 to 5 years

Working depth in one product line plus solid scripting. You can take a requirement to a working configuration alone, write and debug business rules and client scripts, build a REST integration, and explain your update set strategy. CAD and one CIS certification are the usual proof.

Architect, 6 years and beyond

Platform-wide design judgement: when to script and when not to, how to keep an instance upgradeable, how integrations should be shaped, and how to say no to a customer. CTA is the credential employers ask for at this level.
