Frequently asked questions

Is this SailPoint tutorial really free?

Yes. Every lesson on this site is free to read, with no signup. Our paid offering is live instructor-led training, which is separate.

Do I need identity or security experience to start?

No. The getting-started and core-concepts lessons assume no prior identity background, though general IT or Active Directory familiarity makes the connector lessons easier.

Should I learn IdentityIQ or Identity Security Cloud?

Learn the governance concepts first - they are identical. IdentityIQ still dominates existing enterprise deployments, while Identity Security Cloud is where most new projects start, so knowing both is the strongest position.

How long does it take to become job-ready?

Around three to four months of consistent study alongside a job is realistic for an associate-level role, provided you build something hands-on rather than only reading.

Do I need my own environment to practise?

It helps. The installation lessons walk through a local IdentityIQ setup, and the practice section has exercises you can complete against it.

Which certification should I take first?

The IdentityIQ Associate (or ISC Associate if your target employers are cloud-first). Engineer and Architect tiers expect real project experience, not just study.

How current is this content?

Lessons are reviewed each platform release. Where behaviour differs between versions, the lesson states which version it describes.

Do you offer live SailPoint training?

Yes - instructor-led sessions with real project work, covered on our SailPoint training page. The tutorials here stay free either way.
