Key takeaways
  • Two products (IdentityIQ, Identity Security Cloud) and two levels (Engineer, Architect)
  • IdentityIQ path: Engineer then Architect
  • Identity Security Cloud path: Engineer then Architect
  • Credentials and digital badges recognise specific skills
  • Choose by your platform; take Engineer before Architect
  • Confirm current names, scope and fees in the SailPoint certification community

How the program is structured

SailPoint’s certification program is organised by product and level. There are two products, IdentityIQ (on-premise) and Identity Security Cloud (SaaS, formerly IdentityNow), and two main levels, Engineer (professional, hands-on implementation) and Architect (advanced design at scale).

IdentityIQ path

Start with the Certified IdentityIQ Engineer to prove hands-on implementation, then progress to the Certified IdentityIQ Architect for advanced design, integration and governance. See the IdentityIQ Engineer and IdentityIQ Architect pages for scope and preparation.

Identity Security Cloud path

For the SaaS platform, take the Certified Identity Security Cloud Engineer, then the Certified Identity Security Cloud Architect. As most new deployments are SaaS-first, this path is increasingly in demand.

Credentials and digital badges

Beyond full certifications, SailPoint issues credentials and verifiable digital badges that recognise specific skills and completed learning. See the Credentials and badges page for how they work and how to maintain them.

Which should you take first

Choose by the platform you work on: IdentityIQ if your organisation runs it on-premise, Identity Security Cloud if you are on the SaaS platform. Within a platform, always take Engineer before Architect.
