SAP Hands-on labs
SAP labs are hands-on exercises where you practise real tasks in an SAP system, the only reliable way to turn knowledge into skill. This page explains how to get access and practise effectively.
SAP is not learned by reading, so each lab pairs a concept with a task to perform end to end: after procure-to-pay, create a purchase order, receive it and verify the invoice. Get a system from an S/4HANA, BTP or ABAP trial, an employer sandbox or a training provider, reproduce the examples, extend them, and deliberately make and fix mistakes.

Why hands-on is essential
You cannot learn SAP by reading alone. Running transactions, doing configuration or writing code, and seeing the integration happen, is what makes concepts stick. Labs give you concrete tasks to perform end to end.
Getting a practice system
- SAP trials / free tier (S/4HANA trials, BTP trial, ABAP trial systems).
- Training/sandbox systems from employers or training providers.
- Fully-activated appliances for self-study where available.
How to practise
Follow each concept with a lab: after learning procure-to-pay, actually create a PO, receive it and verify the invoice. Reproduce the examples and how-to guides, then extend them, and deliberately make and fix mistakes.
Common pitfalls
- Reading without doing.
- Unrealistic data/scope.
- Never extending beyond guided steps.
